Parent Liaison

Dan Rosseau

Standley Lake Gators Parent Liason

To ensure every family feels supported and heard, we are proud to introduce our Age-Specific Parent Liaisons. Drawing from the expertise of our Board of Directors (BOD), these representatives serve as a bridge between our families, the coaching staff, and the hockey office.

What is a Parent Liaison?

The role of a Parent Liaison is to be a visible, accessible resource for parents. Think of them as your "navigation partners."

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communication Support:
  • Sharing important team and association updates.
  • Helping clarify schedules, policies, and expectations.
  • Parent Questions & Concerns:
  • Available to help with questions regarding team expectations, tournament/travel logistics, and volunteer opportunities.
  • A resource for team culture concerns or questions about specific processes and policies.
  • Team Culture & Support:
  • Promoting positive sportsmanship and respectful communication.
  • Fostering a supportive team environment, parent engagement, and community-building.
  • Navigation Support: Helping parents identify the right person to talk to regarding specific questions or concerns.

What a Parent Liaison is NOT

To help clarify the role, please keep in mind that the Parent Liaison does not:

  • Make coaching decisions.
  • Discuss player ice time or lineup decisions.
  • Override coaches or team officials.
  • Handle discipline matters independently.
  • Replace normal communication channels with coaches/managers.
Important: Player-specific concerns should always follow the team’s established communication policy.

Communication Guidelines

To ensure a positive experience for everyone, we ask our families to follow these standard protocols:

1. The 24-Hour Rule Please wait 24 hours before raising concerns after emotionally charged games or situations. This ensures discussions are productive and calm.

2. Respect the Chain of Communication

  • Step 1: Review team/association policy.
  • Step 2: Contact your Team Manager for logistics or administrative questions.
  • Step 3: Contact your Coach for player development concerns (following the 24-hour rule).
  • Step 4: Contact your Parent Liaison if further support or navigation guidance is needed.
