1. Colorado Prep Hockey League (CPHL)

• Overview: This season is run entirely through the Hyland Hills Hockey Association and serves as an extension of the program. Often referred to as the "club season," it allows high school teams to compete in the fall, as CHSAA is strictly a winter sport.
• Branding: Players wear different jerseys, and team names are slightly altered - typically utilizing a mascot name (Gators) rather than a school name (Standley Lake High School).
• Timeline: Tryouts occur in August; the season runs from late August to early November.
• Our CPHL Varsity team will be a National Tournament Bound (NTB) roster and could earn the chance to compete in the USA Hockey National Championship in March. Qualification for the national tournament is dependent on our CPHL playoff performance.
• Girls CPHL season runs August - February. There is not currently a CHSAA program specifically for girls high school hockey teams.

2. Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA)

• Overview: This Varsity/JV season is officially sanctioned for the Standley Lake High School, utilizing Hyland Hills Hockey Association staff for operations.
• School Policies: Because it is a school-sanctioned sport, Standley Lake High School and Jeffco Public Schools athletic policies apply, including minimum academic grade standards.
• Timeline: Tryouts occur in mid November; the season runs November - February.
• Important Commitment Rule: Once a player steps on the ice for a CHSAA program’s tryouts, they are bound to that program. If they choose to leave, CHSAA rules require them to sit out for one season.
